NWAC baseball in many ways is the heart of baseball in the northwest. With 29 teams in the conference the amount of talent, primarily from the NW, is amazing to see. NWAC players regularly go onto play at 4 year schools and professional baseball. I’m excited to start a series highlighting some of the 29 teams in the NWAC as they prepare for the 2021 season.

First up is Southwestern Oregon Community College. Located on the Pacific Ocean in Coos Bay, OR, SWOCC offers amazing location for baseball in the NW.

Head Coach – Dave Deutschman

Key Returning Position Players

Chandler Stocking- In the shortened 2020 season Stocking led the NWAC in doubles. He is a true utility player who will play 4 or 5 positions this year. He is committed to play at Alabama A&M after his time at SWOCC.

Jeff Fripp- A 6’3″ 255 1B/DH with raw power that can play at any level. In the shortened 2020 season Fripp led the NWAC in Home Runs.

Key Returning Pitcher

Micah Del Rio -Del Rio is a right handed pitcher who sits at 86-89 mph on his fastball and has a power changeup and slider. Was only able to get in limited innings due to knee health but is fully recovered from ACL surgery and is looking to make his mark in 2021.

Impact Freshman

CJ Burrell- Burrell joins SWOCC as a two way player who offers gap to gap pop as a 3B and has 3 plus pitches as a right handed pitcher.

Dallas McGill- McGill is a 6’5″ 220 lbs. left handed pitcher who sits 84-87 on his fastball. He has command of his off speed pitches and has the potential to increase his speed.

Noah Montoya- Montoya gives SWOCC another utility player who hits gap to gap.

Goals and Expectations for 2021

To play all games scheduled, compete and continue to move guys onto the 4 year level.
