Who are some key returning position players and what do you hope to see from them this year?

Jack Dorn-OF Returning All conferences player, R/L run tool, gap to gap with power on the come. Huge upside should land at quality D1 and possibly pro down the line.
Mason DeVerna-OF Power Bat- Big 6-3” frame, runs well for size and will start everyday in left fielder.
Josh Mansur- SS/3rd/RHP. Athlete that will be in lineup everyday. He will hit in middle of the order and act as one of our closers 91-93 off bump with power breaking balls.

Who are your key returning pitchers and why?

Hirouki Yamada-RHP 87-89 arm side sink, slider guy. Big makeup and competes. Players love to play behind him. Big energy.
Harrison Howell- D1 comeback from University of Portland. 89-92 3 pitch mix. Made huge improvements in the fall improving breaking ball and command. I expect him to be top 5 arm in our loaded South Region Division.

Do you have an incoming impact freshman or transfers that will help the team in 2023?

Isaiah Chacon C – Nephew of Alumni Ezra Samperi (Gonzaga) 6’2 frame LH Hitter with Power. Good Catch and Throw Guy. Genetics and Tools could be another D1 catcher out of the Mt Hood Saint Program (Corey Davis- Wright State, Dane Lund OSU, Ezra Samperi Gonzaga, and Isiah Burke OSU)

What was the focus and what things did you see from the team in the fall?

The 2023 Saints have a lot of key pieces to make a run at the finals again this year. In the fall, pitched, defended and ran the bases well. Finished 2nd last year, so a lot of key players with NWAC experience. The South Region is loaded with players and great coaches plus a new 36 game league schedule and the Saint should be battle tested for the Regional rounds. Saints also have a New Head Coach Korey Kier with experience as a Saint. Coach Kier added 2 former Saints Tristan Metcalf (2012) and Ian Erickson (2013).

What are the expectations and goals for the team entering the season?

Mt Hood Saints are looking to maximize the tools of the players, compete everyday, and make some memories. Mt Hood has made 19 of the last 22 tournaments and expect to keep that success rate going.
