Some of the best games I’ve ever seen at any level have included Mt Hood CC. Most notable in my mind a 2-1 extra innings walk off win in the first of two games on Championship Monday in 2015. Their players and coaches have always been amazing examples of both dedication to being the best, as well as having a joy about being a part of the game.

Key Returning Position Players

Ezra Samperi – C – South Region gold glove catcher in 2019 will be a leader behind the dish and a spark plug near the top of the lineup.

Adam Stevens – 3B/SS – Plus defender who can play all infield positions and will anchor the middle of the lineup.

Key Returning Pitchers

Tucker Grote – Electric arm with plus secondary pitches who will be a key part of the rotation this year.  2019 2nd team All-NWAC reliever.

Impact freshman/transfers

Jacob Biesterfeld – RHP – Transfer from University of Portland who will hold be counted on at the top of the rotation.  Power arm that can really pitch.

Riley Aggson – RHP – Sherwood HS graduate who attended San Diego Mesa CC returns to the Pacific NW.  He will be another key piece of the rotation this spring.

Toma Murase – LHP – Dynamic lefty from Japan has the ability to overpower hitters with his fastball and keep them off balance with his plus secondary pitches.

Micah Foskett – C/OF – Primarily a catcher, Foskett will convert to the OF this spring to keep his bat in the lineup.  A simple approach at the plate leads to quality swings and hard hit baseballs.

Rikuu Nishida – 2B – Also from Japan, the left handed hitting infielder is a tough out at the plate and a plus runner.  A smooth defender who plays the game with a lot of energy.

Trevor Saire – RHP/OF – Speedy OF from Arizona who can cause problems for opponents on the bases.  Great defender with strong arm who will also help on the mound.

2021 Expectations

“Although our road to the 2021 season has been challenging, we have lots of veteran experience at key spots and really solid pitching depth. This team has the potential of being really dynamic and has the ability to put together a really solid 2021 season.  In a normal year, this would be a team that had the pieces to make a deep tournament run.” Head Coach Bryan Donohue
