Who are some key returning players for the team and what do you hope to see from each of them this year?
Kevin Leeds-we lost Kevin to a broken wrist 7 games into the 2022 season. He was dominant on the mound in his starts to begin the season. We expect him to pick up where he left off and dominate the strike zone.
Conor Gallaway-Conor was a first team all league outfielder for us. Now as one of only 3 seniors, we expect him to become a leader on this team. He is a vital part of our pitching rotation and is 1 of 2 lefties on the roster.
Dakota Chun- Dakota was a first team all league catcher as a freshman last year. He is steady at the plate hit well over .300 at only struck out 7 times all season. His presence behind the dish is unmatched. We expect Dakota to show some additional power at the plate. His gains in the weight room have been immense this fall and winter.
Jayden Nakamura-All league short stop as a freshman and University of Washington commit, Jayden is a phenomenal infielder. I expect Jayden to take a huge step up offensively this season. This young man has the work ethic of a much older ball player. His baseball IQ is beyond any expectations I’ve ever had with a high school player. Great leader and teammate to top it off.
Who are some key underclassmen that are moving up in the program and can make an impact? What do you hope to see from each of them this year?
Dez Garcia- Dez is a very athletic ball player for us. Can play anywhere and has mostly played middle infield for us. Dez is a vital part of our team and his competitive nature is contagious. This young man will be an stud for us.
What areas will you be focusing on early in the season?
We need to finish games. Our bullpen was rough last year. We lost many games in late innings.
What are the expectations and goals for the team in 2023?
We expect to compete in every inning we play this season. Although we have some depth issues in our program, we have some very talented and competitive young ball players.
