1. What are some areas of your game that you have been focusing on lately to improve upon?
In the off-season I’ve been lifting 4-5 days/wk between Mount Si and Aces. I grew 3” to and gained 35lbs since the beginning of 2021. Currently sitting at 6’3 195. I’ve been hitting all winter, and beginning this January I’ve started a new throwing program to get ready for the HS season. Ultimately my goal was to be bigger and stronger so that I can stay healthy in this long, very important Junior year that’s about to start. I want to hit further, run faster, and most importantly throw harder in 2022.
2. What are some goals and dreams you hope to reach in the next couple of years?
My main goal is to prepare myself to pitch in college. I want to pass the 90mph milestone. And be the guy everyone looks to pitch when we play the toughest opponents.
I want to explore my college baseball options with camps, visits, talking with coaches this year.
3. How long have you been playing baseball and what got you started in the game?
I’ve been playing baseball like most kids, since tee ball. My Dad (Brian Aasland) pitched at Bellevue College ’95-’96, and my Uncle (Cameron Sterne) played at Seattle University ’05-’07. Both motivated me to play because they did. Both showed me how much fun this game can be!
4. What are some of your favorite things about the game of baseball?
In 2021 I was able to travel for baseball more than I ever have. I played in 6 different states with multiple teams. And with that brought a ton of fun memories in the dugouts, new friends, crazy antics in the hotels, and definitely great memories from being on the field.
I also love to compete. I want to see my own results on the field, from all the training off the field. Combine all the things… big and little that I’ve done to be the best I can be when I’m on the field… for my teammates, my coaches, and me.
5. Who in your life has helped push you to be your best on the field?
I’ve had a lot of good coaches on the field for many years. Each has their benefits, but I feel like each have really cared about having fun and enabling me to be in positions to help the team, which also helped me.
I can’t say enough about Coach Brady Summers (Aces). He’s been in my corner since day 1. I’m motivated to be a better player, and student because of him. And he give me every opportunity to grow and showcase my abilities.
Coach Brian Mitchell aka BMitch (Mount Si) is always in my ear, pushing me to be better, helping me with thoughts and ideas to be a better player.
And my Family. Mom, Dad, Big Sis, and Twin Sis. All athletes, all competitive, always in my corner and my are my biggest fans!
6. If there is anything else about baseball you want to include or write about include it.
This year I’m playing for 2 power house teams; Mount Si High School and Aces Baseball Club. I’ve grown physically and with more confidence. The table is set, I’ve got the support, I’m on the right teams, and accomplished what I needed to do in the off season. It’s going to be a roller coaster ride with twists and turns, unexpected dips, new friends, lots of travel, lots of games, and a ton of memories that will last a lifetime.
Shout out to all who have been a part of my journey, thank you!
