Who are some key returning players for the team and what do you hope to see from each of them this year?
Bode Poler – Bode enters his junior year as a two time 1st team all-league infielder. We hope Bode will continue being the guy setting the tone with his batting average and driving in runs. Defensively, we hope Bode will continue to play a solid short stop and lead with effort and hustle.
Jackson Busz – Jackson is our do it all guy. Jackson (SR) is a returning all league player and one of our 2023 Team Captains. Our hope is for Jackson to team up with Camden Taylor (JR) to be our 1-2 guys on the mound. Jackson is guy we will need to rely on for hitting with a high average and driving in runs.
Josh Wills – Josh (SR) a 2023 Team Captain is one of our leaders on defense. Josh is a savvy 2B who is one of our leaders on the field. This season we hope to see Josh as a guy who hits with a high average, be patient at the plate, and get some bunts down to move guys into scoring position.
Kaleb Ames – Kaleb (SR) a returning all league OF and 2023 Team Captain. Kaleb will play CF and be a guy we will rely on to go get the baseball. We hope Kaleb will continue utilizing his speed to help take hits away for our pitchers.
Camden Taylor – Camden (JR) came on strong on the 2nd half of 2022 and became one of our go to guys on the mound. Our hope is for Camden to partner of with Jackson Busz and lead our pitching group. Offensively, we hope Camden continues to gain confidence as a hitter.
Who are some key underclassmen that are moving up in the program and can make an impact? What do you hope to see from each of them this year?
Christian Morris (SO) is a kid who had some limited varsity as a Freshman. Christian gives us options at catcher, outfield, and designated hitter. He has all the tools to be a great Bulldog. We hope Christian has success early in the season hitting and finds a way to be consistently in the lineup.
What areas will you be focusing on early in the season?
I feel early on we will be focusing on finding the right mix with the batting order. We feel pretty good about two phases (pitching and defense). Getting the third phase with the offense clicking and establishing a productive lineup will be the early focus.
What are the expectations and goals for the team in 2023?
The expectations and goals for 2023 is to compete for another league title and make a run at a state tournament appearance.
