1. What are some areas of your game that you have been focusing on lately to improve upon?
I have been focusing on my flexibility and mobility is order to help increase velocity and whip. I also have been working on my hitting to become a more versatile two-way player.
2. What are some goals and dreams you hope to reach in the next couple of years?
My goals the next couple years include playing college baseball and developing further as a pitcher. I would like to attend a 2 or 4 year college, with an academic and winning focus. I have little preference for size or location. I want to be apart of a family where growth and development is the main focus, because ultimately playing at the next level is the goal. In a 2 year situation I want to experience improvement and exposure to the level that I could transfer to a larger and more competitive program. I think ultimately baseball will be a great path for me to get access to an education and connections that will prepare me for life after my baseball career ends.
3. How long have you been playing baseball and what got you started in the game?
I have been playing for roughly 8 years. I started playing baseball because youth football took away my ability to play competitive club soccer due to the year around commitment. With my fall being occupied by football, my winter being occupied by basketball, I decided to pick up baseball in the spring. As I have developed in the sport, I have grown to love it. It has become my favorite sport.
4. What are some of your favorite things about the game of baseball?
I love competing on the mound as a pitcher. I enjoy building team chemistry and developing as a group of winning baseball players. I love the places I have been able to travel too, the opportunities that have been presented, and the discipline the game provides.
5. Who in your life has helped push you to be your best on the field?
My Dad has pushed me to be the best on and off the field. He has been travel buddy throughout my baseball career, and a huge help in navigating life. I also want to recognize a coach from my youth by the name of Dale Miller that believed in me and helped me become the pitcher than I am.
6. Any additional thoughts you would like to share?
My first as a Varsity Starter, at a new school, was anything but easy. Adjusting to the new role and expectations took time and patience. With hard work and coach-ability, I was able to reach my goals as a starter and ultimately as a state champion. In mid-may of this year I pitched a complete game in the 4A Idaho State Championship. Allowing 0 earned runs and 0 walks, I helped lead Bishop Kelly to our first state title since 2010. It was truly a childhood dream come true.
