1. Who was the season MVP?
Our MVP was Tanner Jacques-best defensive shortstop in the league. Had a tough year at the plate, but the way he showed up to practice and play every day made him our MVP.
2. Who was your team Cy Young?
Andrew Delbiaggio- became our number one starter with about six weekends left. Outside of a couple of rough outings he was a stud. Just a soph he was the oldest starting pitcher we had. Great leader by example.
3. Freshman and/or sophomores that stepped up to contribute this year.
We had two freshman pitchers that made a start every weekend of the year: Gage Mack and Grant Knox. They both are going to be very high end starters in this league. Key bullpen guys were Gavin Ludlow and Jared Allen also, both freshman. We also look forward to getting freshman right-hander Braden Thorn back from injury next spring. Mike Lavigne was our starting second baseman and had a very good year for us. Our starting catcher was also a freshman, Brett Joner. We also believe Danny Khan and Bodie Smith, two freshman left-handed hitters are going to be very good players. Jackson Horner was our starting third baseman as a sophomore and had a very good year for us.
4. Juniors and/or seniors who stepped into leadership roles and had an impact on the team.
Levi-Horner Villa had a very good year for us at the plate and we will miss his production. Levi was a senior. We had just one senior pitcher, Cal McRae, and he had a very good year for us out of the pen. Junior Colt Meyer is a tremendous leader and talent who we believe will have a great year next spring.
5. Your biggest take away from the 2021 season.
The biggest take away from the 2021 season was that the NWC is a good league and you have to be ready to play each and every weekend. For the most part our guys did that. With as many at bats and innings pitched returning next spring we expect to win more games in 2022.
